Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend as much as I did my friends. There were so many events to attend, people to visit and thanks to be given. One of our weekend events was in the FAT Village. This section of Fort Lauderdale is an older warehouse district along the RR tracks in the northwest downtown area and let me say it is turning into a very hip urban art complex! I absolutely love seeing resurgence in the arts especially when it's local. FAT Village hosts a variety of events outside of their usual end of the month art walks. FYI, they are a non-for profit art center which relies on volunteers and donations. Saturday night's Snow Owl Market event was created to support and shop local small businesses. Can I say AH-MAZING!!! It was so much fun to hang out with good friends, meet a vast array of new people, talk to talented artisans about their crafts, listen to some kick-ass double dj's spin some 'vinyl', watch a preview performance of the local theater troupe, walk through fine art galleries, eat some delicious food truck food, polished off some Guinness at the local pub McGuire's Hill 16 and bought some incredible handmade jewelry/vintage purses/artisan food from Tiki Island Products and Penang chili beef jerky from my favorite gal Helen at Novae Gourmet Jerky. Their next pop-up event will be at Revolution Live, Saturday, December 21st from 12pm-7pm. This indie craft and bazaar is surely not to be missed! The holidays are here and everyone loves unique handmade gifts...so much more personal, don'tcha think!?!
Here are a few pictures and videos from last Saturday night's Snow Owl Market at FAT Village.
These are a few snapshots of inside a huge barn full of sculptural artwork
& on the street walking around.
A little sample of the double dj's inside the indie craft bazaar barn.
I took these pictures of shadows cast on the cement floor created by
the lighting shining on the artwork...my own little art, lol.
Here you can see how incredible this art installation is inside the barn.
All kinds of cool graffiti!!!
Unfortunately this always happens, I get home, upload my pictures and realize I didn't take nearly the amount of pictures I thought I did...sorry 'bout that. Yes, I totally missed the bazaar inside the garage and some of the art galleries...but hopefully this encourages you to get out to FAT Village to experience the art walks for yourself. Good times indeed!
Wishing you all the very best holiday cheer!
