Happy Belated New Years!

I just gotta laugh at myself...so many days have gone by from my last post (um, Thanksgiving).  The closer the holidays got, I kept thinking "boy, I really have to get back to the blogs".  Yet another day went by that things were "more important" or work came up or family was in town or a function to go to...yeah more excuses.  So I thought, New Year's, yeah that's when I'll really buckle down and get serious with my blog posts.  Hmmmm, I think today is the 10th of January sooooo yeah, that went really well, lol.  So I just gotta laugh at myself...LOL.

With that said, yes there will be new post's coming up and boy do I have a whole'lotta awesome stuff coming your way!  So stay tuned bopper's, the big alert has been called off and for those of you that had such a hard time getting home New Year's night...sorry'bout that...I guess the only thing I can do is send you a post. (reference 'The Warriors' movie, hee hee hee)  Happy Belated New Years Y'all!

Wishing you all a most wonderful 2013 with good health, prosperity and lots of good times!

I am working at a client's house this week painting their family room. This is my little helper today, who decided to take a nap on my drop cloth's.  She is just snoring away.  Good help is hard to find these days, lol.

Hiatus no longer

Goodness, I just realized it has been way too long since the last post.  So much so that I didn't realize all my pictures on the previous posts were deleted, oops, darn technology.  I dearly apologize my friends!  With that outta the way...let's get this party started!  I have so many things to share with you!!!

Long summer days have slipped away as the holidays have snuck up upon us.  The sun is waning in the west, the cooler temperatures have blown in on our coastal winds & the nervous twitch of excitement is in the air.  The thought of the upcoming holiday season always gives me a creative second wind & gets me super hyped. But for what...why?  As a kid the reasons are obvious with the prospect of vacation time, candy, goodies, fun times, no school, lots of 'things' to do, traveling, arts & crafts, etc.  As an adult, I relish that wave of excitement & let the good times transcend into my holiday lifestyle.  Unfortunately our family has decreased instead of increased in size but we continue to keep as many family traditions as we can alive.  This is our way of remembering all of our loved ones with whom these traditions have come from.
So am I excited?  Heck yes I am!!!

What are your holiday plans this year, hmmm?
Dinner parties, soiree's, football tailgating, family affair's, home coming's, traveling, holiday parade's, arts & craft shows, festivals, music concerts, extravaganzas...

Whatever your holiday plans may be this year, please keep in mind that not everyone is blessed with good times, good fortune or even a family to share it with.  The holidays are a great time to do some wonderful things for others who are in need.  Start a holiday tradition by getting your kids & family involved to donate food to local food pantry's & soup kitchen's or volunteer time at your local Boys & Girls Club or get a group to the beach for your own coastal clean-up day or clean out your closet's & donate clothes/books/toys to local homeless and domestic violence shelters or something as simple as offering to babysit a neighbor's kids so they could get some well need rest or errands done.  What a great time of year to be a secret Santa or anonymous donor to your favorite cause, charity or neighbor.  It's amazing how much good we can do for each other!

Wishing you all the very best!

Fabulous Fabric Finds

Today's fabulous fabric find is actually a "two-for"... the most incredible velvet fabrics made into throw pillows, scarfs, bedding linen and rugs...oh yeah stuffed animals too!  The designer, or should I say artist, is Kevin O'Brien, hailing from Philadelphia and up state New York.  To me, Kevin's unique way of viewing his small scale productions is simplicity at it's finest.  He and his team continue to create and inspire new visual phenomenons.  Every collection is matched with well thought out whimsy and intrigue with a professional artistic twist.  A technique he is best know for is called burnout, a standard technique used in a variety of art disciplines, although how Kevin O'Brien translates that technique has taken years of perfecting a perfect yard of fabric.  You can see the process of how they create the burnout custom velvets in the Kevin O'Brien Studios by clicking on the link here.  And below you can see some of his incredible collections of throw pillows....enjoy my friends, enjoy!

Wishing you all a most wonderful week!

Best wishes,

Bursts of Blue in Your Interior

Most interiors love to have an accent color to pull the room together.  Today's color is one of my favs...deep blue sea.  Here are a few elements that have a variation of that gorgeous deep blue color to enhance any room's decor.
Silver metallic on the face & aqua blue on the back
of these spectacular leather throw pillows!
This dynamic area rug will brighten your day!
Blue glass candle holder
Blue Eiffel Towel

Stunningly embroidered & absolutely
fabulous peacock throw pillow
Peacock feather inspired enameled coasters

                 Porcelain flower vase
Very cool retro glass lamp base

So here is my symphony in blue for you on this windy & rainy Wednesday.  Hope it has inspired you to pick up a few fabulous elements of decor to give your home a bit of color.
Wishing you all the very best,

Tasty Tuesday

Does anyone remember back in the day when our Mother's used to swap recipes visa vie recipe-cards?  They would write their most fav recipe(s) on recipe index cards & give to their friends in exchange for their family favs.  Sometimes they would get together on the kids play days to swap recipes....oh those were the days.
Now the internet is our recipe-card swap meet, still kinda cool but lacks the personal flavor of getting together and chatting about your foodie favs.  Well, I would like to say Tasty Tuesday is my homage to the vintage recipe-card swap meet.  To all my friends, here is one of my Grandmother's cake recipe's...Pistachio Bourbon Cake...hope you can read this (just feel free to email me & I will send you my copy lol)  :)

Memere Gisele's Pistachio Bourbon Cake recipe - pg.1
Memere Gisele's Pistachio Bourbon Cake recipe - pg.2
This is an absolutely delicious semi-homemade cake recipe.  Just make sure you adjust the liquids according to this recipe not the cake box.  Even though the cake has bourbon in it, the alcohol get cooks off in the baking process.  Being from a liberal French family, a bourbon/rum/whiskey cake was never an issue.  Though I will leave it up to you as to whether this is an adult cake or not.  Either way I truly hope you enjoy every morsel!!!
Happy Tasty Tuesday!
Best Wishes,
Sheri

Sassy Saturday's

I am not sure what it is about Saturday's that rejuvenate one's spirit & energy into a "can do" attitude.  "Yes, we can do this ginormous weekend project...let's do it!"  Saturday's are just that for me...sassy, simple & spirited!  This sassy Saturday's project is making some "pink, 'lellow & glittery" bracelets for my niece.  Which I am sure will lead to other artsy projects when I really should be outside taming my wild garden.  Just hope it rains! Hee hee...

What's your sassy Saturday like?

Best wishes & enjoy your weekend!
